Exporting Data

Overview

Exporting data enables teams to extend visibility beyond the UI, support compliance requirements, and integrate security insights into broader operational workflows. E.g.,

  • Audit & Compliance Reporting

  • Historical Archiving

  • Executive & Board Reporting

  • Integration with External Systems

  • Engineering Workflow Alignment

  • Deep Analysis & Custom Filtering

  • Risk Acceptance & Exception Tracking

  • Vendor & Third-Party Reviews

To support these use cases, there are numerous sections of the tool that support data export. At present, they are:

  • Security

    • Dependency Findings

    • Source Findings

    • Secrets

  • Catalog

    • Services

    • Deployments

    • Endpoints

    • Repositories

    • Dependencies

  • Settings

    • License Policy

Create & Download Exports

In all cases, the exports can be created by clicking on the small Download icon and completing the Create Export modal with information:

  • Export Name

  • Optional toggle to make Recurring Export

  • If recurring, Frequency & frequency details

Heeler uses the UI's selected filters to determine which data to export and schedules a background job to create the CSV file. Once the data is ready for download, Heeler sends an email to the requesting user with a link to download the file.

The CSV file can be imported into your application of choice and then transformed, analyzed, shared, archived, etc.

Managing Exports

All created exports are saved. You can access the exports by clicking on the Download icon next to the Settings icon.

From there, you are able to filter the exports, view export details & download the latest export, or open Export Options by clicking on the ellipsis to its right. The Export Options are:

  • Edit - Adjust the export as desired

  • Download - Download the existing export immediately

  • Run Now - Kick off a background job to create a new export

  • Delete
